Adda-Guppi

Adda-Guppi
(flourished ca. 649 B.c.-ca. 547 b.c.)
   The mother of the Neo-Babylonian monarch Nabonidus (reigned ca. 555-539 b.c.). A stele erected by Nabonidus bears inscriptions that claim that Adda-Guppi was unusually influential in the royal court. This may have been partly because of her extraordinary longevity. She apparently lived to be 102 years old, which means that she knew, socialized with, and perhaps offered advice to several of Nabonidus's predecessors, including Nebuchadnezzar II (reigned ca. 605-562 b.c.), Amel-Marduk (ca. 561-560 b.c.), and Neriglissar (ca. 559557 b.c.). According to her son, Adda-Guppi was an avid worshipper of the moon god, Sin (or Nanna), and a supporter of that deity's cult.
